Nayara Energy selects Hughes India to connect 3,500 retail outlets by satellite
The HughesON managednetwork solution will enable resiliency, bandwidth optimization, and integratedautomation for the oil retailer.
HughesCommunications India Private Limited (Hughes India) has announced its selectionby Nayara Energy, India’s largest private-sector oil retailer, to install,integrate, and manage a satellite network solution across 3,500 retail outlets.Hughes India is a majority-owned subsidiary of Hughes Network Systems, LLC(HUGHES), an innovator in satellite and multi-transport technologies andnetworks for 50 years, and already connects more than 4,000 Nayara locations.
The new,five-year contract nearly doubles the HughesON™ managed deployment, making itthe largest single satellite-based network in India’s retail petroleum sector.

Thesoftware-defined satellite solution for Nayara will employ the Hughes JUPITER™System, the de facto standard for satellite implementations worldwide, withrouters, gateways, and a network management system designed for highperformance and efficiency. Using capacity on the GSAT-16 and SES-9 satellites,the upgraded network will support data transmissions, such as daily priceupdates to remote petrol pumps, fuel tank monitoring, and implementation of acustomer loyalty program.
Hughes Indiaalready provides state-of-the-art infrastructure to meet the complexconnectivity needs of major state-owned Indian oil companies across nearly20,000 retail locations. Under separate contracts, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL),Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum CorporationLtd. (HPCL) use JUPITER™ System technology to enable fast retail transactions,eliminate manual interference, and deliver accurate, real-time data across theiroperations.
