(QPEEL), has announced the signing of alandmark co-development agreement with Hyosung T&D India Private Limited, awholly-owned subsidiary of Hyosung Heavy Industries Corporation, Korea, forgas-insulated switchgear (GIS) instrument transformers. This positions Mehru asone of the first Indian companies to co-develop GIS instrument transformertechnology for global markets.

Thecollaboration brings together Hyosung’s global leadership in advanced equipmentand eco-friendly gas technologies with Mehru’s expertise in manufacturinghigh-voltage instrument transformers, enabling the creation of world-class GIScomponents designed and manufactured in India.

Gas-insulatedswitchgear is one of the fastest-growing sectors in the transmission anddistribution industry. Unlike conventional air-insulated substations, GISoffers compact design, enhanced reliability and safety, and environmentallyresponsible innovation with alternatives to SF6 gas.

Theglobal GIS market is projected to grow at a 7–8 per cent CAGR through 2030,driven by renewable integration, urbanization, and grid modernization. Indiahas traditionally relied on imports for GIS equipment, with major suppliersbased in Europe, China, and Japan.
