Implementationof auctioned mineral areas to be expedited.

Union Ministerof Coal and Mines, Shri Kishan Reddy has recently unveiled the miningdashboard. This dashboard is a centralized digital platform developed by theMinistry of Mines. The dashboard will monitor the implementation status of theauctioned mineral fields and also track statutory permits across the country.

The unveiling ofthis mining dashboard marks an important milestone since the introduction ofthe auction system under the Amended Mines and Minerals Development andRegulation Act, 1957. Till date, more than 500 mineral blocks have beensuccessfully auctioned in 16 states, out of which 466 mineral areas have been auctionedby state governments and 34 essential mineral zones have been auctioned by thecentral government. Of the mineral areas auctioned so far, 64 have actually becomeoperational.

Through thisdashboard, a structured system was devised and in such a way that the events ofthat time could be monitored. This will help in identifying problems, taking timelymeasures, and initiating the implementation of mining at a faster pace.
