India’s energy Maharatna, Oil and Natural GasCorporation Limited (ONGC) has signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) with Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of TheTata Power Company Limited, to explore collaborative opportunities in theBattery Energy Storage System (BESS) value chain.
This strategic partnership underscores ONGC’scommitment to enhancing India’s energy security through the integration ofrenewable energy and advanced storage solutions. The collaboration will explorea range of applications across the BESS value chain, including:
- Utility-scale energy storage systems.
- Grid stabilization and ancillary services.
- Renewable energy integration and hybridsolutions.
- Industrial and commercial energy storageapplications.
- Microgrid and backup power solutions.
- Electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.

The MoU was formalised at the recently heldIndia Energy Week 2025 in the presence of Deepesh Nanda, CEO and ManagingDirector, TPREL, and other distinguished dignitaries from ONGC and TPREL.
