European manufacturers welcome the first step towards restoring faircompetition in the mobile crane market.
Frankfurt,19 December 2025 – The European Commission todayofficially launched an anti-dumping investigation into imports of mobile cranesfrom China following a formal complaint lodged by leading European mobile cranemanufacturers.
This investigation will examine mounting concerns over the surge ofartificially cheap Chinese mobile cranes entering the EU market, underconditions that result in manifestly unfair competition for European producers. The case focuses on mobile cranes designed for the lifting and moving ofmaterials on land, with a lifting capacity of at least 30 tonnes, mounted onself-propelled vehicles.
Members of the VDMA Materials Handling and Intralogistics Association –including Liebherr, Manitowoc, Sennebogen, and Tadano – representing a largemajority of the above-mentioned EU industry sector, have provided evidence ofmaterial injury caused by predatory pricing and unfair advantages enjoyed byChinese exporters. These advantages include government subsidies, manipulatedraw material costs, preferential tax schemes and sweetheart financing deals. Thecomplaint also highlights an exponential increase in Chinese crane imports tothe EU, threatening over 7,000 direct jobs and tens of thousands morethroughout the supply chain.
