Putzmeister shares Value Retention Tips for Concrete Equipment

Concreteequipment is designed to do a lot of very intricate and precise tasks. Like allsuperior equipment our intelligent and sophisticated pumps and equipment needmaintenance when lying idle. The countrywide lockdown to prevent the spread ofCovid-19 has resulted in a closure of all but essential activity. We urgecustomers with access to their machines to follow our Lockdown MaintenanceChecklist. Our Service Engineers have put together tips that customers or theirequipment operators can do themselves to keep the equipment in good workingcondition. Following these tips will help retain valueof the equipment through the lockdown and help with smooth operations whenactivity resumes.

While many of the tips shared here are common acrossconcrete equipment, the checklist has been made with Putzmeister concreteequipment in mind. We advise others to check with their individual OEMs for themost suitable tips.

Stationary ConcretePumps

ü  Clean/removeconcrete from all machine components.

ü  Drain waterout of water box/ tank and keep it empty.

ü  It isimportant to regularly grease all greasing points. You should also apply greaseon all exposed hydraulic cylinder rods.

ü  Drain waterfrom the hydraulic tank once every 5 days. 

ü  Run the enginefor 15 minutes every 5 days. This will keep the battery from draining. 

ü  Check alloperations and functions. 


Truck MountedConcrete Pump

ü  Clean/removeconcrete from all machine components.

ü  Drain waterout of water box/ tank and keep it empty.

ü  Store remoteand cable inside the cabinet, away from moisture.

ü  Disengage thehand break of the truck chassis, use tyre/wheel stoppers instead.

ü  It isimportant to regularly grease all greasing points. You should also apply greaseon all exposed hydraulic cylinder rods including the 3rd arm boomcylinder rod.

ü  Drain waterfrom the hydraulic tank once every 5 days.

ü  Run the enginefor 15 minutes every 5 days. This will keep the battery from draining.

ü  Check alloperations and functions. 


Batching Plant

ü  Ensure themixer is free of all concrete.

ü  Regularlygrease all greasing points, including points in themixer shaft.

ü  Apply greaseto all open pneumatic cylinder rods.

ü  Keep cement screw free of cement to prevent it from setting insidethe screw.

ü  Protect yourwire rope by applying Cardium Compound.
