Tadano temporarily suspends production at German sites because of COVID-19

Service and spare parts supply maintained as far aspossible

The TadanoGroup is temporarily halting production at its Lauf and Zweibrücken sites. Thecompany states that is main aim is to fulfill its responsibility towardssociety as a whole: “The safety of our employees, customers and businesspartners is a top priority in Tadano’s company philosophy. In view of thecurrent situation in which COVID-19 is uncontrollable, we must protect people’shealth and hence the health of society as a whole and prioritize this above allelse,” explains Jens Ennen, CEO Tadano Demag GmbH & Tadano Faun GmbH, whowent on to thank all Tadano employees who had approved a voluntary agreementstipulating a general company holiday in the last week of March. “That willhelp us get production and support going again quickly with full staffinglevels after the crisis, so that we will be able to catch up rapidly on thebacklog. We very much appreciate this magnificent commitment by our workforce.”

Short-timeworking in April

In thesubsequent period from April 1 2020, Tadano will then introduce short-timeworking for large parts of its sites in Lauf and Zweibrücken.

Thetemporary cessation of production is unavoidable, because the internationalsituation is increasingly leading to necessary deliveries failing to arrive andis also making the delivery of cranes considerably more difficult. Delays indelivery - of a length that is at present impossible to calculate - musttherefore be expected. However, the company has introduced home working in manyareas in order to maintain necessary business operations. Business trips, training and face-to-face meetings of all kinds are suspended until furthernotice to protect the health of employees and customers.

Tadano willstrive to maintain service and spare parts supply as far as possible. Most ofthe usual contacts will continue to be available to customers by telephone andemail. However, there will be unavoidable restrictions on cross-borderdeliveries and service operations. The company is doing its utmost to minimizethis disruption.  “The management teamwill continuously monitor developments and adapt its approach and businessoperations to the situation as it unfolds”, stated Jens Ennen.

He alsostressed that the integration of Demag into the Tadano Group would continue tobe pursued even in these difficult times. This is a major strategic step forTadano and the integration teams will remain focused on their tasks in order toemerge from the crisis in a stronger position to serve its customers: “No onecan yet foresee how the situation will develop and when we can return to normaloperations. However, we are preparing ourselves to be fully available for ourcustomers and ramp up production quickly, as soon as the situation changes.”Until then the Tadano Group sincerely hopes that all its employees, customersand business partners keep well and stay safe throughout the crisis.
