LANGENTHAL, Switzerland – Ammann has unveiled a paver that relies onEuropean technology and is well suited to customers who focus on larger roadprojects.
The Ammann AFW 500 Wheeled Asphalt Paver is available for most ofSoutheast Asia and South African market.
Themachine features a standard paving width of 2.55 metres to 4.9 metres. It canwork at widths up to 6.5 metres with the use of mechanical extensions.
Thewheeled paver is effective at placing both binding courses and surface lifts. Its capacity and size make it an ideal fit for larger road projects, such ashighway applications.
Thepavers are powered by a highly efficient 119kW Cummins engine. Thefour-cylinder engine is liquid-cooled and meets all Tier 3 emissions standards.
Operationis kept simple with the help of an advanced dashboard and screed control panelcreated specifically for the AFW 500. The panel is simple to understand, andoperators appreciate touches such as illuminated buttons that provide optimalvisibility when working at night. Integrated lighting also enhances visibilityduring nightshifts.
Thecontrol unit is comprised of multiple individual parts, which facilitate cost-effective replacement.
Acentral 5-inch colour display provides the operator with key informationregarding the ongoing paving process. The display also enables simpletroubleshooting tips and alerts the operator on maintenanceneeds.
Thepaver design, sliding seat and dashboard improve visibility during all phasesof the paving process.
Alevelling system of the customer’s choice can be connected to the control unit. The installation plug is pre-mounted and allows for quick connection to thelevelling sensors and controls.
Alower discharge height reduces material spillage that can lead to mat defects. The hopper height also matches trucks of varied sizes, increasing fleetutilisation and making it easier to find outside haulers with appropriatelysized vehicles.
Materialis transported by two independent, reversible chain belt conveyors controlledby paddle micro-switches. Two proportional ultrasonic controls optimisematerial distribution by regulating flow to the screed.
Anoptimised auger ensures uniform material distribution, even at wide pavingwidths. A small auger drive gearbox preventssegregation and cooling of material beneath the drive. Standarde-hydraulic auger height adjustment reduces the risk of segregation and ensuressufficient material beneath the gearbox.
Ane-hydraulic device unloads the weight of the screed, thereby enabling anincrease in paving depth. This Improves traction by transferring the weight ofthe screed to the wheels. The raised screed position is maintained when themachine is on standby mode.
Auser-friendly screed control box enables the operator to stay in control andclear layout for easy operation.
