MoU with Smart Power India to facilitate the creationof a Solar ecosystem in the rural regions of India.
New Delhi: With an objective to educate and encouragethe rural communities in the states of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Orissa, andJharkhand, to embrace and adopt the use of solar-powered solutions for enablingconsistent electrification and access, Servotech Power Systems Limited, aleading company engaged in the manufacturing and distribution of high-end solarproducts, LEDs, Oxygen Concentrators and EV Charging equipment, signs aMemorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Smart Power India, a subsidiary of RockefellerFoundation, a New York-based American private foundation operating globally topromote the well-being of humanity. As an expression of agreement andunderstanding for existential health risks, lack of developmentalopportunities, and prevailing poverty crisis in the rural regions due to lackof access to electricity and quality & reliable electrification solutions, acollaborative partnership has been formalized to raise awareness for theutilization and benefits of solar energy for electrification and well-beingthat strongly correlates to economic development, welfare and reduction ofpoverty.
Besides ensuring access to reliable and qualityelectricity, the MoU has been inked to eliminate the dependence and reliance ontraditional biomass cookstoves used in the rural areas that exposes families tohigh levels of indoor air pollution and severe adverse health impacts that resultin higher mortality rate or lower life expectancy.
The development comes at a time when theGovernment of India is exploring a hybrid model to leverage roof-top solarenergy for cooking as part of its ambitious plan to reduce imports of costlyfossil fuels and promote induction cooking practices in the rural as well asurban areas. Further, Servotech’s decision of signing the MoU is in view of itsendeavors to play a pivotal role in steering the nation towards a greener andsustainable future and strengthening and accelerating the government’s strideto achieve net-zero emissions ambitions.
Through this alliance, the two bodies with an objectiveto curtail carbon emissions, improve living standards and ensure activeparticipation of the rural population in the mainstream modern economic development, aims to conduct and launch various training programs, initiatives, andcampaigns for dealers, distributors, and village entrepreneurs who could help inpromotion, facilitation, establishment, and commissioning of solarinfrastructure in their respective regions.
Commenting on the collaboration with Smart PowerIndia, Kulbir Singh, Vice President - Sales, Servotech Power Systems Limitedsaid, “the signing of MoU with Smart Power India is in line with our unwaveringcommitment to contribute to the society, manufacture equipment indigenously inaccordance with the government’s Make In India initiative and provideinnovative solutions for the betterment of all communities especially in therural regions.”
With a strategic approach and planning, Servotechbeing a leader with a legacy of over two decades in commissioning solar-poweredprojects on a massive scale across different Indian states, through itsintelligence and insightful information repository would help SPI to addressthe challenges for the preparation of new roadmaps for ensuring the successful establishmentof solar infrastructure in the target regions. In addition to assisting inpreparation of new execution strategies, Servotech would complement the SPI’s initiativeand goals of extending productive power and sufficient access to reliable andquality electricity in the rural sectors.
“Servotech’s cooperation and collaboration withSmart Power India would surely help us gain an edge to serve the ruralcommunities better and drive a positive change in the society. While theServotech appointed channel partners in rural areas would help us gain a betterunderstanding of the hindrances in the solar ecosystem, the partnership wouldhelp us both ensure the installation of quality equipment for projectsincentivised by SPI” stated Navneet Gupta, Associate Director – C&I, SmartPower India.
With a noble vision to build a robust cleanecosystem based on renewable energy technological solutions, Servotech andSmart Power India through a series of coordinated efforts have committed to actunitedly for the welfare of the rural communities.
