Bags six prestigious accolades at CII-ITC Sustainability Awards 2017; Also, emerges as the only Indian company among the top 10 in the Global DJSI ranking.

Ambuja Cements Ltd., one of leading cement manufacturing companies in India, has, bagged six prestigious accolades at the CII-ITC Sustainability Awards 2017 event held recently in New Delhi. The company was conferred the ‘Outstanding Accomplishment for Corporate Excellence’ award for the eighth consecutive time for demonstrating outstanding policy, practice and results by successfully incorporating sustainability in the core.

The company’s three plants – Maratha Cement Works (Maharashtra), Ambujanagar (Gujarat) and Bhatapara (Chhattisgarh) – also did the company proud for their domain excellence in environment management and corporate social responsibility

The awards were presented by C. K. Mishra, Secretary - Union Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change. Also present at the award ceremony were over 200 major Indian companies that were part of the nominations for the CII-ITC Sustainability Awards 2017.
Ambuja Cement was also recently recognised by the internationally renowned Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) 2017, which ranked the Company at No.7 in the Construction Material category. With this, Ambuja Cement emerged as the only Indian company to notch up such a high rank, competing with global and Indian companies.

The Company, which was invited to participate in the DJSI Emerging Markets Index, achieved this special feat in line with its vision to be the most sustainable and competitive company in the industry, and performed exceedingly well in key parameters, surpassing its own 2016 score.
