The Olympics have brought back bittersweetmemories of the stadium’s controversy. And, Kengo Kuma’s stadium, which wasultimately completed, has left us with many unresolved issues. ‘Are weoverdoing architecture?’ is the most pertinent question. Do we require iconicbuildings or buildings that are contextual, long-lasting, and include localcommunities?

There’s no doubt about that. As a career, architecture has a lot of potentials. It was also a rewarding experience. Thatis why our country’s design dynasties are seeing an influx of second-generationarchitects.

True, the Novel Corona Virus and lockdowns havealtered our way of life. It has an impact on architectural design as well, withpeople opting for sustainable buildings rather than famous structures.

The Indian economy has been hampered by thepandemic’s spread, which has resulted in occasional lockdowns since last year. Peopleare gradually gravitating towards green and sustainable living, however on amuch smaller scale. In residential settings, there is a growing demand forgreen and efficient energy solutions.

A tremendous spike in demand for inexpensivehomes in suburban areas is being driven by the need for more living space. Peopleare relocating from cities to the suburbs because it offers them more indoorand outdoor space at a lower cost. Because of COVID-19 worries, more activitiesare taking place inside the home, which needs greater room for living, leisure,career/job work, working out, school, and other purposes.

Sustainable housing has the potential to addressissues such as climate change, global warming, and a shortage of green space inurban areas. Green buildings decrease carbon emissions, energy and waste, andconserve water through sustainable architecture, construction, and operations.

Nowadays, architects and designers should lookto renovate old projects to make them sustainable features. Renovating aproject is not an easy task. More often than not, you tend to overlookallocating and adhering to a budget amidst the excitement of creating thoseperfect spaces.

Clearly defining timelines and planning thenitty-gritty at the very beginning is key to successfully managing a home renovation.Rather than making newly affordable and environmentally efficient buildings, weas designers and architects should look at rebuilding projects and oldmonuments.

At a CAGR of 06 per cent, the market isestimated to reach $14.91-trillion in 2025. The market for architecture andengineering services is likely to be driven by an increase in demand forecologically safe and certified structures.
