The compaction warriors

TheHC series of compactors from HAMMoffer advanced engine technology andbest compaction for earthworks.

SinceAugust 2021, Hamm has supplied new compactor models from the HC series to theIndian market. The machines, weighing 11t, are available with or without a drumdrive. All machines fulfil the requirements of the CEV Stage IV.

At90 kW (121 HP), they bring plenty of power to the construction site whilstconsuming considerably less fuel than their predecessors. Furthermore, the newcompactors feature a modern, convenient operating platform, excellent drivingand handling properties, as well as a highly efficient ECO mode that can reducefuel consumption by up to 20 per cent.

New premium compactors for India

TheHC 119i and HC 119i D compactors areavailable in an operating weight of 11,190 kg or 11,240 kg (all weights includethe protective roof in each case). All of the models are manufactured at theWirtgen Group plant in Pune, Maharashtra. They are completely homologised andcomply with the Indian laws and specifications in all details, from the engineand the lighting system, right through to their dimensions.

Optimum compaction performance

Witha drum width of 2,140 mm and a large static linear load, the compactors can beused universally in inner-city projects, for compaction on motorways, airports, and other large areas. The powerful Cummins engine ensures that maximumcompaction force is always available, and vibration works immediately once thenominal frequency is activated. For the driver, the acceleration of thevibrating unit is imperceptible.

Theautomatic vibration system ensures that the vibration is shut off as soon asthe compactors stop moving. This prevents over-compaction and guaranteeshigh-quality surfaces.

Clear operation, comfortable workstation

Fromthe operator’s platform on the new compactors, the driver has an excellent viewof the construction site. Thanks to the design of the engine hood and the frontvehicle, the driver can always keep the drum – as well as the construction site– in view.

Theroof, which is included as standard, protects the driver from the sun and rain. The operation is self-explanatory and does not require any special languageskills.

Asstandard, a USB socket, 12 V socket, and a bottle holder are included on board. Thanks to this equipment and other details, the operator platform on therollers is a comfortable place to work. Bright work lighting with durable LEDlights rounds off the high-quality and environmentally friendly overallpicture.

Future-proof engine with a highly efficientECO mode

Allmodels are driven by a robust, water-cooled 4-cylinder engine in accordancewith CEV Stage IV. The 90 kW (121 HP) power unit features two fuel filters asstandard. To clean the exhaust gas, the machines are equipped with SCR and DOC.

Duringoperation, the operator can choose between three pre-set engine speeds. If thedriver selects the average speed, the machine operates in ECO mode. This modereduces fuel consumption by up to 20 per cent, as well as lowers CO2and noise emissions.

Yet,in spite of this, frequency and centrifugal force as well as full compactionpower continue to be maintained. This is enabled thanks to the large-sizedhydraulic components and smart control system. Furthermore, the compactors areable to be used at outside temperatures of up to 53°C thanks to the newlydesigned air duct and large radiator.

Great driving and handling propertiesthanks to the three-point articulation

Thethree-point articulation in the new compactors guarantees outstandingdirectional stability, impressive stability when negotiating curves, and a highlevel of safety against overturning. This means that the compactors deliveroutstanding manoeuvrability and excellent compaction, even on uneven terrain.

Thecompactors are driven by the rear axle. The ‘D model’ (HC 119i D) alsohave a drum drive that helps it to scale gradients of up to 53 per cent withconfidence.

Numerous options

Asoptional components for ICS systems, Hamm offers a speedometer forcomprehensive compaction inspection, and the Hamm Compaction Meter (HCM) forcontinuous measurement of the load-bearing capacity. In addition, theHC 119i D can also be equipped with padfoot shells. Further optionsare available for lighting and the operator platform.

Convenient maintenance

TheHamm compactors from the HC series also prove to be convenient when it comes tothe daily check and regular maintenance. All access points can be easilyaccessed as the engine hood can be opened wide in the direction of the operatorplatform.
